The Great Creamy Prawn Pasta Experiment π€π§π
You guysβ¦ I have to share this story because itβs too funny NOT to. So, picture this: Iβm in the kitchen, minding my own business, planning to make my usual roast chicken for dinner, when my husband walks in, all casual, and says…
Him: βBabe, I want to try something new for dinner tonight.β
Okay, first of all, I nearly dropped my spatula. This man, who has been eating the same rotation of meals for years β and yes, that rotation includes at least two types of grilled meat β suddenly wants to get adventurous?
Me: βUhh… what do you want to try?β
Him: βCreamy Prawn Pasta.β
Now, friends, let me explain something to you: this man hates pasta. Iβm talking full-on, βI wonβt touch that noodle even if it was my last mealβ level hate. So naturally, I thought he was joking.
Me: βWait, what? You hate pasta.β
Him: βWell, yeah, but this one has cheese and prawns in it. I saw a video on Facebook, and it looked amazing. Soβ¦ yeah, letβs do that.β
Me (internally): Did Facebook just brainwash my husband?
But hey, I love cooking, and Iβm always up for a challenge. Plus, if Facebook convinced him to eat pasta, who am I to argue? So, I sayβ¦
Me: βOkay, but if you donβt like it, Iβm not making you a grilled cheese later.β
He nodded like he was signing up for an extreme food challenge.
So hereβs how it went down! For all my lovely friends who might want to recreate this dinner experiment (and letβs be real, you probably should):
How to Make Creamy Prawn Pasta β Facebook Husband Approved Version
Ingredients:
- 200g pasta (I used fettuccine because thatβs what I had in the pantry, and well, aesthetic π)
- 250g prawns (peeled and deveined)
- 3 cloves garlic (finely chopped β because, duh, garlic makes everything better)
- 1 cup heavy cream (yes, weβre going full indulgent mode here)
- Β½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (because if thereβs no cheese, hubby wonβt eat it)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for that extra creamy, heart-stopping goodness)
- Salt & pepper (because bland food is a sin)
- A sprinkle of chili flakes (optional, but trust me, itβs worth it)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (because fancy)
Instructions:
- Boil the pasta: Start by cooking the pasta according to the package instructions. You know, boil some water, add salt, then throw in the pasta. Donβt overcook it unless youβre trying to make prawn porridge (which I wasnβt).
- SautΓ© the prawns: While the pasta is boiling away, melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Toss in the garlic and let it sizzle (oh, the smell π). Add the prawns and cook them until theyβre pink and delicious. This doesnβt take long β 3 minutes max!
- Make the sauce: Once the prawns are done, pour in the heavy cream. Stir it up, let it simmer for a minute, and then add the grated Parmesan. Stir, stir, stir until it becomes creamy, cheesy heaven. Season with salt, pepper, and those chili flakes (if you want a little kick).
- Combine: Drain the pasta and toss it in the pan with the creamy prawn sauce. Stir everything together until the pasta is beautifully coated in cheesy prawn goodness.
- Garnish & serve: Top it all off with some chopped parsley for that Instagram-worthy finish. Serve it up, and voila! Dinner is ready.
So, hereβs the kicker. I serve him his plate, nervously watching as he twirls the pasta onto his fork (because apparently, you have to twirl fettuccine, right?). He takes a bite, chews slowly, andβ¦
Him (with the most serious face): βThis is actually good.β
Me: π³ βWait, seriously?β
Him (nodding): βYeah, the cheese makes it.β
GUYS. Facebook actually convinced my husband to eat and enjoy pasta. I donβt know whether to laugh or start planning all the pasta dishes Iβve been deprived of for years! π
If your husband is as pasta-phobic as mine, try this recipe. Apparently, if it has prawns and enough cheese, anythingβs possible!
