The Great Creamy Prawn Pasta Experiment ๐Ÿค๐Ÿง€๐Ÿ

You guysโ€ฆ I have to share this story because itโ€™s too funny NOT to. So, picture this: Iโ€™m in the kitchen, minding my own business, planning to make my usual roast chicken for dinner, when my husband walks in, all casual, and says…

Him: โ€œBabe, I want to try something new for dinner tonight.โ€

Okay, first of all, I nearly dropped my spatula. This man, who has been eating the same rotation of meals for years โ€” and yes, that rotation includes at least two types of grilled meat โ€” suddenly wants to get adventurous?

Me: โ€œUhh… what do you want to try?โ€

Him: โ€œCreamy Prawn Pasta.โ€

Now, friends, let me explain something to you: this man hates pasta. Iโ€™m talking full-on, โ€œI wonโ€™t touch that noodle even if it was my last mealโ€ level hate. So naturally, I thought he was joking.

Me: โ€œWait, what? You hate pasta.โ€

Him: โ€œWell, yeah, but this one has cheese and prawns in it. I saw a video on Facebook, and it looked amazing. Soโ€ฆ yeah, letโ€™s do that.โ€

Me (internally): Did Facebook just brainwash my husband?

But hey, I love cooking, and Iโ€™m always up for a challenge. Plus, if Facebook convinced him to eat pasta, who am I to argue? So, I sayโ€ฆ

Me: โ€œOkay, but if you donโ€™t like it, Iโ€™m not making you a grilled cheese later.โ€

He nodded like he was signing up for an extreme food challenge.

So hereโ€™s how it went down! For all my lovely friends who might want to recreate this dinner experiment (and letโ€™s be real, you probably should):

How to Make Creamy Prawn Pasta โ€“ Facebook Husband Approved Version

Ingredients:

  • 200g pasta (I used fettuccine because thatโ€™s what I had in the pantry, and well, aesthetic ๐Ÿ)
  • 250g prawns (peeled and deveined)
  • 3 cloves garlic (finely chopped โ€“ because, duh, garlic makes everything better)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (yes, weโ€™re going full indulgent mode here)
  • ยฝ cup grated Parmesan cheese (because if thereโ€™s no cheese, hubby wonโ€™t eat it)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for that extra creamy, heart-stopping goodness)
  • Salt & pepper (because bland food is a sin)
  • A sprinkle of chili flakes (optional, but trust me, itโ€™s worth it)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (because fancy)

Instructions:

  1. Boil the pasta: Start by cooking the pasta according to the package instructions. You know, boil some water, add salt, then throw in the pasta. Donโ€™t overcook it unless youโ€™re trying to make prawn porridge (which I wasnโ€™t).
  2. Sautรฉ the prawns: While the pasta is boiling away, melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Toss in the garlic and let it sizzle (oh, the smell ๐Ÿ˜). Add the prawns and cook them until theyโ€™re pink and delicious. This doesnโ€™t take long โ€“ 3 minutes max!
  3. Make the sauce: Once the prawns are done, pour in the heavy cream. Stir it up, let it simmer for a minute, and then add the grated Parmesan. Stir, stir, stir until it becomes creamy, cheesy heaven. Season with salt, pepper, and those chili flakes (if you want a little kick).
  4. Combine: Drain the pasta and toss it in the pan with the creamy prawn sauce. Stir everything together until the pasta is beautifully coated in cheesy prawn goodness.
  5. Garnish & serve: Top it all off with some chopped parsley for that Instagram-worthy finish. Serve it up, and voila! Dinner is ready.

So, hereโ€™s the kicker. I serve him his plate, nervously watching as he twirls the pasta onto his fork (because apparently, you have to twirl fettuccine, right?). He takes a bite, chews slowly, andโ€ฆ

Him (with the most serious face): โ€œThis is actually good.โ€

Me: ๐Ÿ˜ณ โ€œWait, seriously?โ€

Him (nodding): โ€œYeah, the cheese makes it.โ€

GUYS. Facebook actually convinced my husband to eat and enjoy pasta. I donโ€™t know whether to laugh or start planning all the pasta dishes Iโ€™ve been deprived of for years! ๐Ÿ˜†

If your husband is as pasta-phobic as mine, try this recipe. Apparently, if it has prawns and enough cheese, anythingโ€™s possible!
